The book isn't a novel but the play for the television version made by the BBC. There is also a movie version, which I have seen, but there must have been changes to the movie script. That makes it just as interesting to read, not to mention that the writing is bright, imaginative, and daring.
The book even has photos from the TV series and a cast list, many names you will no doubt recognize from other early television works by the BBC and Nigel Kneale.
The plot, as you can guess is simple. Quatermass is drawn into a mystery. People seem to be hurt or changed from objects landing on Earth. They are also showing up on radar yet nobody seems to wish to talk about it. The classical alien invasion story before such things became...well...classical.

I'm still reading this book but have picked up four of the Quatermass books. The story narration is in the format of a movie script. I find it interesting reading and always enjoy books from the U.K.
